Main axes of the curriculum include experiential environmental innovative programs, enriched Science teaching programs, English language acquisition and technological literacy programs.

Job description:

Each teacher is charged with the following responsibilities:

  • Implements the extended curriculum and experiential environmental and innovative programs of the School.Cooperates systematically with all teaching staff of the School.
  • Develops additional educational material for his/her class and the experiential programs he/she implements.
  • Teaches using modern teaching methods (team-oriented cooperative learning and differentiated learning, experiential approaches and the use of suitable IT tools).
  • Contributes to the organization of educational outings and visits of his/her class.
  • Communicates with parents providing timely feedback.
  • Participates in student recruiting and other activities that require teachers’ presence.
  • Attends community activities addressed to student families.

All teachers report to the Elementary School Principal.

Necessary qualifications:

  • University Degree.
  • A minimum of 3-year teaching experience in elementary education.
  • Excellent skills in the use of IT technology and its applications in education.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellence and educational innovation.
  • Impeccable work ethics.

Additional qualifications:

  • Postgraduate studies in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in the implementation of environmental or other innovative programs.

Interdisciplinary Researcher Consultant

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of the “BIOCIRCULAR” and “TrustTrace” ESPA projects and to the development of the network of AFS-coordinated demonstration farms. Among other things, s/he will be called upon to provide solutions to issues of inter-connectivity, communications and database design.

Fields of Expertise: The successful candidate will be competent in at least one and familiarized with a range of the following fields:  Internet of Things (IoT); Cloud Computing; Distal and Proximal Sensor Technologies, including Spectrometry and Sensor Networks; Blockchain Technologies.

Faculty Position at Perrotis College Graduate Program

The School of Graduate Studies of Perrotis College is announcing the hiring for a full-time position to start in Fall 2018.  The position responsibilities are outlined below.  Part time temporary assignment (adjunct) will also be considered until a qualified candidate for full time employment is identified. The job description and qualifications listed below concern full time employment and will adjusted properly for part time occupation.

Faculty Position in Bioinformatics and Bioinformatics Facility

The selected person will be responsible for teaching genomics/bioinformatics courses and operating the Bioinformatics facilities. Responsibilities for this position include:

  • teaching in all levels of post-graduate genomics/bioinformatics courses;
  • supervising theses at undergraduate and post-graduate level;
  • conducting research in this particular and other related fields;
  • keeping well up-to-date with developments in bioinformatics;
  • teaching in related short-courses;
  • assisting in the development of infrastructure; setting up of appropriate equipment and software;
  • developing and submitting grant proposals for funding and supporting national and/or international collaboration with academic/research Institutes as well as collaboration and funding with the industry;
  • advising students;
  • teaching in all levels of under-graduate related courses, depending on the faculty needs; and
  • participating in the life of the School and collaborating with faculty members.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Ph.D. in genomics/bioinformatics science or closely related field with research emphasis in genomics applications;
  • A demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications of original research;
  • Teaching experience at University level, preferably in English; and
  • Proficiency level of spoken and written English.

Desirable Personal Characteristics and Experience

  • Experience in working in a high quality academic research environment - Experience at post-doctoral (or equivalent) level;
  • Experience in supervising successfully the projects of taught and research students;
  • Experience in presenting research to audiences;
  • Evidence of successful applications for research funding;
  • Evidence of research attainments including examples of written contributions in academic publications/journals;
  • Ability to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in Bioinformatics and Data Analytics;
  • Ability to provide academic and pastoral support to students;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
